This unusual, fun wine was first created in Elizabethan times, when Galleons bringing casks of wine from Spain and the south of France to England, docked in Jersey for supplies. During the long voyage, the casks would loose wine (evaporation or a thirsty crew?) and Jersey cider was used to top up the casks and then resealed for shipment to England!
Grapple
To mark this amusing adulteration of the late 1500's, we have produced our very own version of this unique combination of apple and grape. A careful blend of cider and grape wine, our version has refreshing spicy apple aromas, ripe grapey flavours, and a crisp sweetness that lingers on the tongue.
A fun wine, ideal for picnics or barbecues, or in the colder months try using it as a base for mulled wine!
